Years ago as a missionary associate (or MAPer as we were then called) working with Janice and Jerry Smith in Guayaquil, I met and became friends with staff pastors, Johnny and Alma (Velarde de) Ascencio. After all these years, Johnny and Alma have become senior pastors and our friendship flourishes. With passion for the family and concern over the growing anti-family values incorporated into Ecuador's new constitution, Alma invited me to kick off a study of Global University's Christian Life material entitled Marriage and Home.

We met on a warm, sticky Wednesday evening, usually reserved for Women's Ministry meetings, but still had a full house in this upper-room church in Guayaquil. Though tired and warm, those in attendance paid careful attention and participated in the activities geared to demonstrate Biblical truth in tangible ways. It was a wonderful beginning to series that culminates in December.
Please pray for this church and for the impact they can have on marriages and homes in their community.
